BILLERICA, Mass., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- The U.S. government has contracted American Science and Engineering Inc. for delivery of the company's vehicle scanning technologies.
Massachusetts-based X-ray technologies developer AS&E was awarded a follow-on contract from the U.S. government for two of the company's trademarked Z Backscatter Vans. AS&E says the contract is worth $2 million.
Officials say the Z Backscatter Vans will be deployed to support security initiatives at an undisclosed high-threat facility. The Z Backscatter Vans are designed to identify explosive threats in vehicles.
"This latest order from the U.S. government reaffirms the value of the Z Backscatter Vans to secure U.S. government high-threat facilities around the world," Anthony Fabiano, AS&E president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
"We are proud to continue working closely with the U.S. government to meet their detection and performance requirements to uncover dangerous explosive threats."
