Alion contracted for shipbuilding support

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Navy has contacted Alion Science and Technology to support ongoing shipbuilding programs with technical and management services.

U.S. company Alion was selected for the award as part of the Navy's Seaport-enhanced contract vehicle to support the Naval Systems Engineering Directorate. Under the $391 million contract, Alion will provide NAVSEA's shipbuilding programs with management services in "all technical disciplines" in the life cycle of the Navy's ship design.


"Alion has the expertise in acquisition and design activity to support NAVSEA in all lifetime phases of these ship design and shipbuilding programs," Rod Riddick, Alion senior vice president and deputy manager of the engineering and integration solutions sector, said in a statement.

"Our team is in place to support all of these initiatives, from concept and detail design to disposal as these ships develop through the entire life cycle."
