SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- U.S. company Pranalytica Inc. announced the launch of new laser technologies to support high-tech military initiatives.
Pranalytica has released its new PoyntIR handheld infrared illuminator and a compact BeckonIR quantum cascade laser-based beacon. Company officials say the PoyntIR is designed to support enemy targeting at distances of almost a mile on the ground and approximately 6.2 miles from the air.
Pranalytica's laser-based BeckonIR is designed to help military personnel identify enemies and also friendly units as part of an effort to reduce unnecessary casualties.
"Pranalytica is committed to providing breakthrough technologies and applications to enhance the capabilities and safety of our troops in today's dynamic and high-tech wartime environments," Kumar Patel, Pranalytica president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
