Point Blank responds to Army armor call

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Point Blank Solutions Inc. announced it has submitted a proposal in response to the U.S. Army's call for new tactical body armor.

The Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Contracting Center recently announced a solicitation for Improved Outer Tactical Vests to meet ongoing operational requirements in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Point Blank, whose armor technologies are widely deployed by the U.S. Defense Department in combat zones around the world, submitted a bid offering to deliver 75,000 IOTVs to the Army.

Officials say the bid is for a production rate of "25,000 IOTVs per month for the three months beginning April 2009," the release said.
