NG to support patrol craft production

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- U.S. company Northrop Grumman has been contracted to support the production of water patrol crafts for Trinidad and Tobago.

Government officials from the Caribbean island nation awarded Australia-based Austal Shipyards a contract to produce six fast water patrol craft to support security operations. Austal recently selected Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit for integrated bridge systems.

Officials say Northrop Grumman will deliver the IBS equipment, based on Sperry Marine's VisionMaster FT sensor technologies, to Electrotech Australia for integration into the water patrol craft.

"The advanced features and capabilities of our VisionMaster FT navigation technology are ideally suited for the requirements of high-speed patrol craft, and Sperry Marine is rapidly becoming the preferred IBS supplier for international navies and coast guards," Nolasco DaCunha, Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine vice president, said in a statement.
