ATLANTA, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has contracted Video Display Corp. to deliver rugged flat-panel monitor technologies for a U.S. Navy program.
Georgia-based Video Display says its Aydin Displays Inc. subsidiary was awarded the contract from General Dynamics' Advanced Information Systems unit. As part of the deal, Aydin will support a General Dynamics contract with the Navy for work on the Common Displays System Program.
General Dynamics selected Aydin to support the CDS Program with the company's 24-inch rugged flat-panel monitors as part of a Navy modernization effort. Aydin says its rugged monitors are capable of withstanding vibrations associated with naval operations.
"This multiple-year, multimillion-dollar award reinforces the company's position as a key supplier of rugged shipboard displays for the U.S. military," Art Mengel, Aydin Displays president, said in a statement.
"We look forward to continuing our support of U.S. military programs like CDS."
