ADELAIDE, Australia, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- After completing approval requirements, BAE Systems has officially acquired Australia-based defense supplies management company Tenix Toll Defense Logistics.
TTDL, which manages the Defense Integrated Distribution System for the Australian Defense Forces, was purchased by BAE for approximately $16.6 million. The Defense Integrated Distribution System is the logistics vehicle for the Australian military and manages warehouses and distribution services.
BAE officials say the acquisition of TTDL was part of a move to expand operations in the Australian defense market. TTDL is expected to be integrated within BAE Systems Australia's Land Business Unit.
"The acquisition of TTDL adds great value to our company and what we offer our major customer," Jim McDowell, BAE Systems Australia chief executive, said in a statement.
"The Defense Integrated Distribution System contract provides a strong basis on which BAE Systems can work with the Australian Defense Forces to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its logistics services."
