Officials say the Talon's new full-swivel manipulator arm, capable of lifting 65 pounds, provides the robot with new strength and the ability to right itself while keeping soldiers at a safe distance.

"Talon IV Engineer expands the capabilities of our war fighters to remotely clear routes, mine fields or other hazardous areas and gives them the ability to see inside and around vehicles, guard rails and other barriers to help increase their overall safety," William Ribich, QinetiQ North America Technology Solutions Group president, said in a statement.

"We're improving and expanding our line of products to meet the complex challenges of national defense and homeland security, because we're dedicated to delivering the best robotic solutions in the industry."
