TS2 completes Afghan satellite project

WARSAW, Poland, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- TS2 Satellite Technologies has completed a satellite networking project providing satellite communication services for U.S. Marines in Afghanistan.

Poland-based TS2 was awarded a Joint Contracting Command-Iraq/Afghanistan deal to support full satellite communications for Marine Corps bases in Afghanistan for two years as the U.S. Defense Department shifts additional units from Iraq to Afghanistan.

Company officials say the tender documentation for the JCC-I/A and the satellite network project has been completed.

"We were among the first telecommunications operators in the VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite technology in the territory of Iraq and Afghanistan, and, as such, we have enjoyed a successful cooperation with the U.S. Army for several years now," Marcin Frackiewicz, TS2 Satellite Technologies chief executive officer, said in a statement.

"The Afghan project could be another big government order in the company's history. Our military network in Iraq has already over 10,000 regular users for everyday broadband connections."
