MCLEAN, Va., June 5 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army Contracting Agency has contracted BearingPoint Inc. to provide logistics and maintenance support for the Defense Department.
The $48.2 million contract will be managed by the Naval Air Systems Command's Joint Department of Defense Maintenance Resource Planning Program Office. BearingPoint will be expected to provide logistics, maintenance and supply support functions under the deal, which has options potentially worth $255 million over five years.
Officials say BearingPoint will receive task orders under the award that could include acquisition and program management, strategic business planning and system engineering among other Defense Department requirements.
"BearingPoint has extensive experience working with the military, and is in an excellent position to leverage this experience to assist Department of Defense organizations with logistics, maintenance and supply functions," Mark Goulart, BearingPoint defense practice senior vice president, said in a statement.
"These types of services can allow organizations to become more agile and integrated, and provide increased value and service to the war fighter."
