ST. LOUIS, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Boeing has sent the U.S. Air Force a proposal to continue its CLS for the KC-10 military aircraft.
Boeing said in a statement Thursday it had "submitted a proposal to the U.S. Air Force to continue providing Contractor Logistics Support -- CLS -- for the KC-10 Extender program."
"The KC-10 CLS program provides depot-level maintenance and modifications, supply-chain management and other critical support tasks. The Air Force is expected to select a winner in the summer of 2008," the company said.
"Boeing employees in San Antonio and across the world have been proud to support this great airplane and the war fighter," said Mike Wright, KC-10 program director. "We look forward to continuing that effort, providing around-the-clock readiness to our nation's war fighter."
"The Boeing-led KC-10 CLS team provides more experience than any other industry team. It includes more than 450 suppliers and partners who have been working on the KC-10 Extender since it entered service in 1986. Boeing has serviced more than 700 KC-10s through the current CLS contract," the company said.
"Our team brings proven performance on the program and experience to the war fighter that our competition cannot offer," Wright said. "And we're prepared to continue that support."
