Navistar awarded additional MRAP contract

WARRENVILLE, Ill., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Marine Corps announced it has contacted Illinois-based International Military and Government LLC for mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle support.

International Military and Government is the military affiliate of Navistar International Corp. Under the $68.8 million follow-on contract the company will support the Marine Corps’ International MaxxPro MRAP vehicles. The contract builds on a $71.5 million contract awarded in September to provide parts support for the Marine Corps’ International MaxxPro MRAP vehicles.

“Providing solid support after delivery is essential -- just as we do for our commercial business," Archie Massicotte, president of International Military and Government, said in a statement. "We have the expertise, infrastructure and global supply network to keep the MaxxPro vehicles mission ready.”

With more than $1 billion in contracts from the Marine Corps, Navistar will deliver almost 3,000 of its MaxxPro units for use in Iraq and Afghanistan military operations.

“This contract award is another example of our track record for providing parts to support our military vehicles,” said Daniel C. Ustian, Navistar’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
