LOS GATOS, Calif., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Israel-based PacketLight Networks announced it has selected Hifn's FlowThrough Architecture security processor.
Company officials say Hifn's network and information security processor integration with PacketLight's new PL-200 WAN connectivity solution can provide data protection and data reduction at wire speeds without sacrificing backup or recovery performance to carriers, enterprises and small- to medium-sized businesses.
"We reviewed quite a few compression and security solutions and found that Hifn's FlowThrough Architecture stood out in its ability to off load all of the security processing from the host CPU for our Storage over IP and Ethernet SAN Connectivity Device," said Koby Reshef, vice president of marketing for PacketLight Networks, in a statement. "Our products connect two remote SAN/data sites over long distances, and we were specifically in search of an architecture able to provide the highest level of security and processing power available."
Hifn's FlowThrough Architecture with the PL-200 combination provides built-in encryption to secure sensitive data over the IP network. The high-performance secure solution allows companies to build business continuity and disaster recovery applications over IP and Ethernet networks.
"With Hifn, the PL-200 delivers data acceleration, reduction and armoring at line speed, which solves the three primary issues of data growth -- data security, management and integrity," said Tom Moore, vice president of sales, marketing and operations for Hifn, in a statement.
"Hifn powers the PL-200 with a high level of critical functionality that customers have come to expect in this competitive market. With Hifn's FlowThrough architecture, PacketLight customers gain a new level of capabilities and cost efficiency without worries of increased costs."
