Calgon Carbon contract by Paul Boye Tech.

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Paul Boye Technologies has awarded Pittsburgh-based Calgon Carbon Corp. a contract to manufacture chemical warfare resistant cloth.

Calgon Carbon announced that its European operating unit, Chemviron Carbon, has been contracted to manufacture Zorflex cloth to be used in the manufacture of suits, gloves and socks to protect a major European country's military for $800,000.

The Zorflex cloth manufactured by Chemviron Carbon is sold in the medical, industrial and defense markets.

As a result of the contract Calgon Carbon is investing in additional equipment at Chemviron Carbon's cloth production facility to boost capacity. The additional equipment will also enable the company to produce a 1.5m-wide cloth specifically for the military clothing market.

Commenting on the announcement, Cloth Division General Manager Bob Brown said, "We are delighted to win this contract from Paul Boye Technologies, with whom we have a close working relationship. This contract is a breakthrough and gives us momentum in this major emerging market."
