Brazil's Cardoso fearful of populism

SAO PAULO, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Brazil's outgoing president said he was fearful that populism might dominate the political landscape when his left-wing successor, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, assumes office at the beginning of January. "If there is a risk in Brazil, it is the risk of populism," President Fernando Henrique Cardoso said in an interview published Tuesday.
