Brazil's Serra gets boost, but falls short

SAO PAULO, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- The campaign of Brazilian presidential hopeful Jose Serra received a much-needed boost Wednesday when the highly influential Liberal Font Party (PFL) passed a motion to back him in the Oct. 27 runoff election. The declaration, however, falls short of Serra's expectations, as PFL leaders are not obliged to support him, leaving them free to vote for other candidates.
