Northrop Grumman gets $149 million infrared countermeasures contract

Contract covers work on the U.S. Navy's Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures program.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. has received a $149 million U.S. Navy contract for work on the service's Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures program.

The cost-plus-fixed fee deal covers the procurement of hardware, production test stations and technical support to integrate the system onto Navy, Army, Marine Corps and Special Operations aircraft.

The contract will provide similar system services to the Australian government.

Hardware for the procurement includes weapon replaceable assemblies and support, 492 advanced threat warning sensors, 14 signal processor elements, 27 control indicator units, signal processors, 12 infrared missile warning system sensors, 77 laser transmitter assemblies, 51 shipping containers, 20 multi-role electro-optical end-to-end test sets, 10 smart connector assemblies and one advanced threat warning acceptance test station to meet necessary fielding requirements.

Work will be performed in Illinois, California, Colorado, Maryland and at various locations inside and outside the United States. The expected completion date is September 2018.

The Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity.
