Oceaneering, Electric Boat get submarine contract options

WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Oceaneering International and General Dynamics Electric Boat have been awarded fourth-year contract options for U.S. and foreign national submarine work.

Under the cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contracts, Oceaneering will receive $38 million for the option, with Electric Boat receiving $48 million.

The contract's final option will provide continuing engineering and technical services in support of the submarine safety program.

It also covers Level I material work on Seawolf-, Los Angeles-, Ohio- and Virginia-class boats, as well as unspecified foreign national submarines.

This contract provides technical management, administrative and technical services, materials, tools, equipment, facilities and required support to accomplish installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of main and auxiliary weapons, hull, mechanical and electrical equipment.

Work will be performed in Virginia, Washington and Hawaii and is expected to be completed by February 2018.
