WASHINGTON, June 15 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has received a $331.8 million U.S. Army contract for Lot 11 production of Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System rockets, the company said Wednesday.

The contract calls for production of GMLRS alternative warhead rockets, unitary rockets and reduced-range practice rockets, Lockheed said in a statement.

Rockets will be produced for the U.S. Army, the Marine Corps and for foreign military sales to Israel, Finland, Jordan and Singapore.

Work will be performed in Arkansas and Texas. All production deliveries are expected to be complete by March, Lockheed said.

GMLRS is an all-weather system designed for quick deployment, offering a precision strike beyond most conventional weapons.

The alternative warhead was the first munition developed to service area targets without the effects of unexploded ordnance, Lockheed said, complying with the Pentagon's cluster munitions policy.

The reduced-range rocket allows users to train with realistic, full-motored rockets with limited flight range, making them well-suited for smaller test ranges.
