Lockheed to refresh systems on German P-3C Orion aircraft

Contract will provide updates on eight aircraft.

WASHINGTON, May 19 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $54.9 million U.S. Navy firm-fixed-price contract for the P-3C mission system refresh program.

The company will upgrade the mission computer, acoustic equipment, armament/ordnance system, as well as displays and controls, for eight P-3C Orion aircraft flown by Germany.

The contract includes non-recurring engineering, long lead items, design, integration, planning, build and software development in support of Germany's P-3C aircraft under the Foreign Military Sales program.

Work will be performed in New York, Minnesota, Virginia and Germany, with an expected completion date of March 2017.
