Engility subsidiary wins spot on Army communications contract

CHANTILLY, Va., March 12 (UPI) -- An Engility Holdings subsidiary is to provide research and development services to the U.S. Army's Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate.

The technical, administrative, and operations support services contract is worth $497 million and was awarded to Dynamics Research Corporation, one of eight prime contractors given the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award.

Dynamics Research Corporation, which had bid on the contract last year, became a wholly owned Engility subsidiary in January.

Under the terms of the contract, Engility will lead a team of 21 companies that will support secure wireless military communications and network technologies. The team will also provide research and development, engineering, logistics and business operations support for the S&TCD.

S&TCD is part of the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center, whose mission is to develop and integrate C4ISR -- command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance -- technologies for information dominance.

The contract has a three-year period of performance with two option years.

"Engility and its new team members are looking forward to supporting this critical mission, which will help the Army improve and consolidate its C4ISR capabilities and systems," said Engility President and Chief Executive Officer Tony Smeraglinolo. "Our innovative technical services, ranging from systems engineering to high performance computing, can boost the Army's ability to meet increasing demands for secure communications to the tactical edge."
