Ducommun contracted for TOW missile components

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Ducommun Inc. says it will produce wiring harnesses and printed circuit card assemblies for tube-launched, optically tracked, wireless guided missiles.

The missile system, known as TOW, is a family of attack missiles for use against a broad range of targets, from tanks to reinforced fortifications. It has been in operation with U.S. and allied forces for more than 50 years and is expected to remain so beyond 2025.

The contract for TOW wiring harnesses and printed circuit card assemblies, issued by Raytheon, extends Ducommun's support for the TOW program through 2014.

Ducommun said its production for the program will take place at facilities in Berryville, Ark., and Tulsa, Okla., but gave no details were provided as to its value.

"We're very proud to support this enduring program and provide our troops with the ruggedized electronics behind Raytheon's next-generation TOW weapon system," said Anthony J. Reardon, chairman and chief executive officer of Ducommun. "We have a longstanding relationship with Raytheon on the TOW program and look forward to serving them for many years to come."
