LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Secure Communications Systems has acquired Tactical Micro Inc., strengthening and diversifying its product offerings to military and civilian clients.

The takeover was announced Tuesday by Vance Street Capital LLC, a private equity company and parent of Secure Communications, but terms of the transaction with Tactical Micro's parent company, Relativity Capital, were not disclosed.

"Tactical Micro has an impressive track record of consistent revenue growth," said Allen Ronk, chief executive officer of Secure Communication Systems. "The success of the company is a testament to its talented management team, its dedicated employees and innovative technology.

"We believe that Tactical Micro complements our current product offerings and we look forward to working together to further grow our businesses."

Tactical Micro, which is headquartered in Virginia, provides high-end training, instrumentation and surveillance solutions for military and commercial customers. Its products are used in support of military training, metropolitan security systems and other complex surveillance solutions. Secure Communications is a designer and manufacturer of rugged computer and information assurance systems.

The companies said Tactical Micro's founder and president, John Moulton, will retain an ownership stake in Tactical Micro and will continue to serve as its president.
