Panasonic video surveillance pass U.S. pre-certification tests

NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- Video surveillance technologies from Panasonic System Communications of North America have been pre-certified as meeting U.S. government security requirements.

The pre-certification for Department of Defense security and risk management requirements was verified by the Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process. Testing of the technologies was conducted by Serco Inc., a provider of professional, technology and management services.

"DIACAP certified systems allow the Department of Defense to operate within secure environments that deliver the safeguards necessary to protect the nation's people, property and assets," said Greg Peratt, Panasonic senior director of video surveillance solutions. "As a leading global provider of government security and surveillance solutions, Panasonic is committed to ensuring its systems meet the security and risk management requirements of its customers and we look forward to expanding our support for the United States Department of Defense with DIACAP pre-certification."

DIACAP approval is necessary for a product to operate as part of a Department of Defense security network.

Pre-certified were Panasonic's ASM200 video management software and a range of IP network cameras.
