IAI Ramta unit tapped for Israeli patrol boats

LOD, Israel, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Israel Aerospace Industries says its Ramta division has been contracted by the Israeli navy to supply three Super Dvora Mk 3 fast patrol boats.

The value of the contract and a delivery schedule for the boats were not disclosed.

The Super Dvora MK 3 is a mainstay of the Israeli navy. The fast patrol boat weighs 60 tons fully load, is 90 feet long and has a top speed of 50 knots. It is used for a variety of coastal security missions, including prevention of terrorist activities and infiltration.

"IAI's commitment to the Israel navy is among the deepest of Israeli and international defense industries," IAI President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Weiss said. "We feel great pride and a sense of mission by being given the opportunity to contribute to the safety of Israel.
