Selex producing more communication systems for Sweden

LONDON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Selex ES has been selected to supply thousands of additional EZPRR communications systems for use by the Swedish Home Guard.

The Enhanced Encrypted Personal Role Radio communications system will be used for voice and data transmission between group and squad leaders, platoon commanders and platoon vehicles.

The contract for the 4,425 systems was given to Selex ES by Swedish company CELAB Communications AB, which was contracted for the radios by the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration.

Selex ES said it had previously supplied 8,700 EZPRR man-worn systems and about 50 vehicle systems for the Swedish military in a phased program.

The EZPRR uses advanced 2.4GHz spread spectrum technology, wireless press-to-talk capability and an interchangeable switch pack that allows configuration to different roles.

The value of the contract and a delivery schedule for the EZPRR units were not disclosed.

"The EZPRR system is easy to use through its simple human-machine interface, is unobtrusive and comfortable to wear yet is rugged enough to sustain the harshest environments presented by active frontline operations," Selex ES said.
