SAIC to support WMD threat reduction efforts

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency is to receive global integrated logistics support from Science Applications International Corporation.

Support under the prime contract for DTRA's Cooperative Threat Reduction operations includes procurement, shipping, warehousing, international travel support, and program support.

The contract is for a base period of performance of three years with two one-year options. It is a single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity arrangement with a potential total value of $100 million.

"SAIC's long-standing support to DTRA, its expertise in logistics, and Department of Defense program support will enable us to assist DTRA worldwide in its CTR mission," said Mark Escobar, SAIC DOD Agencies and Commands Group senior vice president. "With our experienced and talented staff, we will continue to support this critical international mission."

DTRA is the U.S. Department of Defense's official combat support agency for countering weapons of mass destruction.

SAIC said work under the contract will be performed globally.
