SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Construction grade control and survey systems are being supplied to the U.S. Marine Corps and Army by Trimble, a California-headquartered technology company.
Under the five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award, Trimble will supply its GPS base station receivers, grade lasers, grade control systems and construction design software for the Marine Corps' and Army's dozers, motor-graders and the Army's Deployable Universal Combat Earthmover and scraper equipment.
Trimble will also supply the Marines with its GNSS survey systems, robotic total stations, data controllers and radios, Trimble and Spectra Precision laser levels, Nikon auto-levels, and office software used for surveying.
Trimble said the new equipment will help the military to collect, manage and analyze complex information faster during survey and construction missions and reduce construction costs.
"The Trimble team is committed to assisting the U.S. military to achieve their objectives, including reducing the volume of heavy equipment deployed in geographic regions and fuel usage, which can enable significant cost savings for the U.S. military," said Trimble's Steven W. Berglund, president and chief executive officer.
The award is expected to generate about approximately $63 million in revenue for the company over its five-year term.
