CINCINNATI, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- A facility for thermal spray coating of aircraft engines and industrial gas turbine components is to be opened in Mexico by Ellison Surface Technologies Inc.
The U.S. company, which originally announced its intention at the 2012 Farnborough International Air Show, said this week construction has now started on the coating and special process plant in Guaymas, Mexico, a growing center for aerospace and industrial turbine manufacturing.
No projected date for completion was announced.
The construction of the Guaymas facility is the fourth expansion project of the company in the last year. It has opened new facilities in Vermont and Canada and also expanded its plant in Kentucky.
"This expansion into Mexico is a principal part of our long-term strategic initiatives," said C. Michael Ellison, president and chief executive officer of Ellison Surface Technologies. "We look forward to being an integral part of the growing aerospace and industrial gas turbine manufacturing hub in [the state of] Sonora."
