WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Hundreds of U.S. intercontinental ballistic missiles will receive sustainment services from BAE Systems under a U.S. Air Force contract.
The contract length is eight years and carries a value of $534 million, BAE said.
"The Intercontinental Ballistic Missile program is a pillar in our national security, and our job is to guarantee it never fails," said Erin Moseley, president of BAE Systems' Support Solutions sector. "Our team has the right experience, expertise and past performance to support the Air Force and ensure the operational readiness of these vital strategic assets."
Under the contract, BAE Systems will provide systems engineering, integration, testing, logistics and other services to support the missiles and ground and launch systems for 450 deployed Minuteman III missiles.
The work will be performed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah, Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and in Shreveport, La., near Barksdale Air Force Base.
BAE Systems said it will be actively recruiting from the existing skilled workforce at each site for the work.
