Selex ES trains Kuwatis on EW

LINCOLN, England, July 24 (UPI) -- Selex ES's Electronic Warfare Operational Support facility in Britain has completed its training of Kuwaiti Air Force personnel on its EW system.

The training was on the company's Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System EW equipment, which is installed on Apache helicopters operated by the Kuwaiti military and took place during a six-month period.

"In the fast-paced world of EW, equipment alone no longer provides the most effective solution," said Ramie Smith, vice president Electronic Warfare Operations Support at Selex ES. "This training will allow our Kuwaiti customer to program their electronic warfare hardware to effectively defend against modern threats and new challenges as they emerge in the future."

The training covered the fundamentals of electronic warfare and EWOS, EW data analysis, EW database management, EW mission support, threat vulnerability assessment, EW tactics and development of counter-measures.

Selex ES said it now plans to deliver a number of mission data sets to Kuwait, which will allow Kuwait to begin its assessment and development of a national electronic warfare capability.
