New plant for General Dynamics

HEALDSBURG, Calif., July 19 (UPI) -- General Dynamics has officially opened a new plant in California for manufacturing advanced electro-mechanical actuation systems used in projectiles and missiles.

The facility of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in Healdsburg was designed using "clean room" production standards of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

"The opening of this facility is an example of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems' continued growth and expertise in developing and producing sophisticated components for next-generation missile programs," said GD Vice President and General Manager of Precision Systems Dan Paul. "This operations expansion reinforces our commitment to serve the missile defense industry using innovative technology combined with a proven and reliable production capability."

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems supplies advanced electro-mechanical actuation systems to the U.S. military and a number of U.S. defense contractors. It also produces large-, medium- and small-caliber direct and indirect-fire munitions, mortar weapons and systems, artillery projectiles, bomb bodies and Ball Powder Propellant.
