NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- An unidentified Indian conglomerate has contracted U.S. company Suspect Detection Systems Inc. for its Cognito automated anti-crime and anti-terror system.
The value of the contract and the number of Cognito units to be supplied the customer were not revealed.
"Cogito is now being used in India's governmental, academic and private sectors," said Gil Boosidan, Suspect Detection Systems' chief executive officer. "We are extremely pleased that our extensive efforts have enabled us to penetrate all sectors of India's rapidly growing markets which we believe will translate to significant commercial success during the remainder of 2013 and thereafter.
"We are hopeful that the signing of the present contract should lead to additional contracts in the private sector, among others in India, in the near future."
Suspect Detection Systems described Cognito as technology designed to identify threats in real-time, and prevent incidents before they are carried out by detecting hidden "hostile intent" of miscreants with a high degree of accuracy.
The system can also be used after a crime is committed to identify perpetrators, it said, but gave no additional details on how it works.
