WARSAW, Poland, June 13 (UPI) -- Poland's Aero Vodochody Aerospace a.s. is no longer bidding to supply the Polish Air Force with trainer aircraft.
The company said it has withdrawn from the competition because of the "chaotic" bidding process and other concerns.
"With regard to chaotic proceeding from the awarding authority side and ambiguities in the tender specifications, we decided to terminate our participation in the bidding process," said Aero President Ladislav Simek. "[The] Polish side was informed of our decision in advance before the deadline for submission of bids.
"We have been actively trying to communicate with the awarding authority in order to clarify the tender specifications. However, the Polish party did not respond to our comments."
Aero had participated in a previous tender for 12 trainers, which was canceled by the government in 2011.
According to Aero, problems with the current bidding process included insufficiently specified tender documents, ambiguous and contradictory tender specifications, a required bank guarantee that was too high, and conditions contrary to normal practice and international standards.
