Singapore orders naval gun fire-control systems

SINGAPORE, May 14 (UPI) -- A new naval gun, fire-control system will be developed and produced by Sagem of France for Singapore's navy.

The eight systems, ordered by Singapore's Defense Science and Technology Agency, will be used on Littoral Mission Vessels being built by ST Marine to replace the country's Fearless-class patrol vessels.

Sagem's GFCS will be placed in the ship's operations center and integrates main and secondary guns, radar, optronics and navigation systems into a central system. It will also be interfaced with the combat management system.

"Its open architecture not only allows for easy integration but also ensures flexibility and scalability for future upgrades and enhancement," Sagem said.

Six Singaporean frigates and four LSTs already feature Sagem's GFCS.

The systems will be produced at Sagem's research and development facility near Paris, the company said.
