Army maintenance, training deal for Honeywell

COLUMBIA, Md., May 13 (UPI) -- A U.S. Army maintenance and training contract for heavy tactical wheeled vehicles has been given to that Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc.

The contract is for three years and is worth $72.4 million. Issued by the Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command's Heavy Tactical Vehicles Program Manager -- under the TACOM Transportation Systems Program Executive Office -- it is a component of the ongoing support that HTSI has been providing to the Heavy Tactical Wheeled Vehicles Program for over 18 years.

"HTSI has been involved in Total Package Fielding for over 18 years, and our experienced staff of professional managers, mechanics and instructors offers the Army the best value team available," HTSI President Carey Smith said.

"Our teams have fielded and trained thousands of soldiers all over the world, and they understand the importance of ensuring that our soldiers are equipped to operate and maintain these trucks in any situation and in any region."

The 10-ton heavy tactical vehicles covered under the award are Army, Army Reserve and National Guard systems such as the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck, the Heavy Equipment Transporter and the Palletized Load System -- legacy systems that have been regularly updated with the latest technology.
