Swedish TETRA maintenance deal for Cassidian

UNTERSCHLEISSHEIM, Germany, April 19 (UPI) -- Sweden's Civil Contingencies Agency has selected Cassidian of Germany to maintain the country's Rakel radio communications network.

The 7-year award to Cassidian, effective in 2015, includes third-line support, hardware repair and supply of TETRA system equipment and software.

Sweden's Rakel network is a TETRA network, with nearly 1,800 base stations and 22 switches. Secure TETRA radio communications networks serves the Swedish military police, rescue services, utility organizations and others, including private companies.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to continue our work with Rakel," said Jean-Marc Nasr, head of Secure Communication Solutions at Cassidian. "By signing this new contract, the Swedish government has demonstrated its confidence in Cassidian's ability to support it in the long term.

"Cassidian is looking forward to pursuing its development in the Kingdom of Sweden."

The monetary value of the contract and other details weren't provided in Cassdian's announcement of the contract.
