Cyberthreat summit set

BETHESDA, Md., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. cybersecurity Industry experts are gathering next month in Washington for what is being called a major, one-of-a-kind knowledge-sharing event.

The gathering is called The What Works in Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit and is being hosted by the SANS Institute, an information security training organization.

The meeting's goal is to aid participants gain additional knowledge about the tools and methodologies available for computer network protection.

"The stakes associated with a cyberattack are getting higher as our adversaries become increasingly smarter and more aggressive," said Mike Cloppert, SANS Cyber Threat Intelligence lead and Lockheed Martin's computer incident response team chief analyst.

"Threat intelligence can be a force multiplier as organizations look to update their security programs and defenses to deal with increasingly sophisticated advanced persistent threats.

"For those who are serious about cyber-defense, this is a must attend event and a rare opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in security."

Among the speakers at the summit will be Greg Rattray of Delta Risk LLC, a retired U.S. Air Force officer and cyber-intelligence expert; Rick Holland, senior analyst at Forrester Research; Aaron Wade, General Electric CIRT; Mike Gordon, the CIRT Senior Manager at Lockheed Martin; and John Ramsey from Dell SecureWorks.
