Cybersecurity practice introduced

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A new integrated cybersecurity practice has been launched in the United States by the Spectrum Group for government and commercial customers.

The practice, called the Security Team, is led by former U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jim Shamess.

"In an era when an attack is just as likely to be caused by a keystroke as a warhead, it's become essential to be able to provide a single source of expertise to our clients who are either concerned about their own security or who are delivering security products and services to others, " he said.

The Spectrum Group said other members of the Security Team include the former director of operations and chief of staff for U.S. Central Command, retired Maj. Gen. Michael Jones, former Department of Transportation Maritime Administration Counsel Joan Bondareff, former National Security Agency Executive Director Frank Blanco, and former Deputy Chairman of the Allied Pilots Association retired Capt. Mark Weiss.

The Security Team will help clients assess their security needs and risks, develop strategic plans and implement programs and "design and facilitate advocacy initiatives to expand and defend their business interests and protect their assets."

"The Spectrum Group has stayed in the forefront of (Washington) D.C. consulting firms for more than 20 years by constantly evolving to deal with changes in technology and policy," TSG President Gregory Sharp said. "Delivering the broad array of our security expertise through an integrated practice continues that legacy."
