New wearable tactical system introduced

PHOENIX, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A new wearable multi-mission controller featuring a central display and enhanced graphics has been launched by Black Diamond Advanced Technology of Arizona.

The modular tactical system is said to display 3-D graphics at four times the speed of current systems, can process data from mission-critical peripherals at twice the speed of current MTS and lightens a user's load by eliminating redundant battery and equipment loads.

"The MTS Tactical Mission Controller, which is the heart of the MTS kit and houses a computer, power management system and embedded radio interface electronics, now employs a dual-core Intel processor," the company said.

"The TMC Dual-Core provides a more than two times faster processor and more than four times faster 3-D graphics engine -- all for the same size and weight while maintaining backward compatibility with fielded MTS accessories and cables.

"The dual-core processor also provides the ability for simultaneous dual-video output and support for new radios, as well as other feature improvements."

The Tactical Mission Controller is MOLLE-compatible and can be worn on the back of the tactical vest or configured in a pack or carry-bag.

The MTS is primarily used by Special Operation forces. An earlier version was fielded in 2010 in Afghanistan.
