Army support deal for DRS Technologies

HERNDON, Va., Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A U.S. subsidiary of Italy's Finmeccanica has won a spot on a U.S. Army contract to provide support for tactical command, control and communications systems.

DRS Technologies said the five-year contract from the Army's Program Executive Office Command Communications and Control is a performance-based, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award. The ceiling value to all awardees is $10 billion.

"With this vehicle we will continue to provide advanced communications technology in support of the warfighter," said Tim Hassell, program director DRS's Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems business. "We are very pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with PEO C3T providing tactical and logistical communications services and look forward to the challenge of performing on this contract."

Services to be provided by DRS' 60-member contract team include providing hardware, software, engineering, and logistics.

"We look forward to writing another chapter in our rich history of working with the military communications designers, both Stateside developing state-of-the-art communications systems and working in theater, shoulder-to-shoulder with service members to meet their critical communications needs."
