RR giving support for Saudi jets

LONDON, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Rolls-Royce of Britain is to provide support services for its engines powering Tornado combat aircraft flown by the Royal Saudi Air Force,

A contract for the work, which comes a defense cooperation program, was signed by both governments and covers RB199 engines. Included in the four-year deal are repair of engine modules, accessories and spares and supply of new spares.

"We are delighted to have concluded this agreement which will provide the Royal Saudi Air Force with support for its fleet of RB199 engines over the next four years," said Nick Durham, Rolls-Royce's president of Customer Business - Defence. "The Air Force is a longstanding and valued customer and we will continue to work together to provide the best possible support for its expanding Rolls-Royce engine fleet."

Rolls-Royce's partner in providing engine support in the country is the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company.

The value of the four-year contract was not disclosed.
