LONGMONT, Colo., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- The ability to directly deliver high-quality imagery to U.S. military forces and first responders is being enhanced by DigitalGlobe.
The enhancements will come through upgrades to multiple U.S. Air Force Eagle Vision mobile ground stations, which will allow the ground stations to task DigitalGlobe's WorldView constellation of Earth-imaging satellites and rapidly downloading imagery at maximum resolution.
"The DigitalGlobe solution uniquely provides the U.S. Air Force the ability to task and downlink best-in-class commercial panchromatic and 8-band multi-spectral imagery," said James "Snake" Clark of the Air Force's Eagle Vision program.
"Under this new contract, DigitalGlobe's imagery hardware combined with our mobile stations will help support many of our unique missions enabling us to get high-resolution imagery to the people who need it on the ground.
"It will also enable Eagle Vision systems to be compatible with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's commercial high-resolution program."
Eagle Vision is a family of deployable commercial remote sensing satellite downlink and imagery processing stations which collect imagery from commercial satellites.
DigitalGlobe said it will deliver the upgrades with partners MDA and Orbit Logic starting early next year.
