Immigration contracts for biometrics

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- A contract to provide biometric capture services at U.S. immigration centers in the United States has been given to a division of US Investigations Services.

The contract, from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity award. It has a one-year base period of performance with four one-year options.

The potential value of the contract is $889 million.

"Our reputation as a leading provider of background investigations and other services that support federal agencies as they adjudicate claims and applications was key to our success in winning this contract. We are firmly committed to providing USCIS with biometric capture services that support and enhance their operations and the national security of the United States."

USIS, the largest commercial provider of background investigations to the federal government, said that under the contract its services will be performed at more than 130 Application Support Centers in 50 U.S. states and in U.S. territories.
