Globecomm gets Army contract extension

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Globecomm reports it has agreed to a third period-of-performance completion date extension to its U.S. Army World-Wide Satellite Systems contract.

Under the original indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, awarded in 2006, Globecomm provides development and system integration services to support a variety of Army communications needs.

The award was last extended to next July; the new extension brings the period of performance to the end of March 2014.

"This period of performance completion date extension provides Globecomm with the ability to continue providing much-needed equipment to PM WIN-T in support a wide variety of mission requirements required of their end users until other contract vehicles like Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems are awarded," said Dwight Hunsicker, Globecomm's vice president of Government Business.

PM WIN-T is the Army's Project Manager Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Program Management Office, which oversees the World-Wide Satellite Systems contract.

Gobecomm also has announced receipt of multiple task orders from an unidentified U.S. government agency to provide mission-critical equipment to military forces.

The task orders carry a value of about $5 million but if all options were exercised the value would be as much as $7.8 million.
