Decontamination nebulizer introduced

VAN NUYS, Calif., June 5 (UPI) -- Two U.S. companies are unveiling a jointly developed portable nebulizer disinfection system to kill viruses, spores and other dangers in minutes.

The HJ-30i Altapure system is by ITT Exelis and Altapure LLC., and combines company technologies, including an ultrasonic subsystem, to produce a cloud of sub-micron droplets for disinfection or decontamination of large areas.

"The Altapure HJ-30i's size, performance and scalability provide unmatched disinfection effectiveness and efficiency," said Chris Bernhardt, ITT Exelis' executive vice president and president of the Electronic Systems division.

"This milestone is another sign of the Exelis commitment to finding innovative ways to adapt our advanced technologies to solve today's challenges, both for our defense customers and for targeted commercial markets."

ITT Exelis said the HJ-30i is one-third the size and weight of the previous model introduced and, as before, can change the size and concentration of its disinfectant solution with commands from a remote control unit to meet decontamination needs. It can also be linked to other systems over the "Altanet" equipment network.
