Akimeka suppots military health system

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 29 (UPI) -- A subsidiary of the VSE Corp. has been chosen by the U.S. military health system to research, test and develop medical solutions and products.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the Pacific Joint Information Technology Center was given to Akimeka by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Tricare Management Activity. It is for five years and carries a maximum value of $300 million for all seven awardees.

"Akimeka and our partners are proud to be selected to support the Pacific JITC and look forward to leveraging our capabilities to enhance the health and medical-related information technology offered to support our nation's military service members and veterans," said Akimeka President John Harris.

Under the award, Akimeka will conduct proof-of-concept demonstrations and product prototyping for the research, testing and development of warfighter medical solutions and products.
