"A portion of the systems are designated for an Australian Foreign Military Sales contract. These systems will be integrated into the Lockheed Martin advanced mission avionics package and installed on the U.S. Navy's MH-60R "Romeo" helicopter."

Telephonics is a subsidiary of the Griffon Corp.

The AN/APS-153 radar, the successor to the AN/APS-147, has automatic radar periscope detection and discrimination capability, Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar imaging and a fully integrated Identification Friend or Foe interrogator capability.

"The AN/APS-153 Multi-Mode Radar, with the advanced ARPDD mode, provides the U.S. Navy with an unprecedented capability to successfully perform their difficult and often dangerous missions," said Telephonics President Joseph J. Battaglia.

"This highly capable system incorporates advanced features which will serve naval aviation well for many years to come."

The multiyear, full-scale production contract is worth more than $330 million.
