NASHUA, N.H., April 26 (UPI) -- The electronic warfare capabilities of Saudi Arabia's F-15S fighters are to be enhanced through a BAE Systems upgrade.

The BAE Systems upgrade, through the U.S. Foreign Military Sale program, is worth $376 million and covers the delivery of 70 Digital Electronic Warfare Systems/Common Missile Warning Systems.

"BAE Systems looks forward to providing the Royal Saudi Air Force with this superior electronic capability," said John Nyilis, product line director at BAE Systems.

"Through these efforts the kingdom's existing F-15 fighter aircraft will match the capabilities of the next generation of F-15 SA fighter jets currently in development."

DEWS provides advanced radar warning and countermeasure capabilities as well as improved situational awareness and support in offensive targeting. BAE Systems said it can be modified for use on a variety of aircraft.

BAE Systems' announcement of the award didn't include a delivery schedule for the 70 units being provided.
