New patents issued for Bourque's Kryron

TUCSON, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The United States has issued two new patents to Bourque Industries for its Kryron metal alloying process, which alters the material characteristics of metal.

The patents -- Nos. 8,057,709 and 8,075,806 -- were issued in relation to Bourque Industries' original patent, the company said.

"These two new patents provide important protection for Bourque Industries to exclusively own the rights to Kryron or any other similarly manufactured material," said John M. Bourque, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Bourque Industries.

"We believe that Kryron and Kryronized alloys will be a key component of revolutionary product applications across a range of industries and we are committed to vigorously defending our intellectual property on an ongoing basis."

Bourque industries said that the Kryron process strengthens materials and gives them anti-corrosive properties. Among products tested successfully by the company are lightweight ballistic plates for body armor and cladding material for military vehicles.

Bourque Industries has headquarters in Tucson.
